I had a gig in Alabama the other day. Apparently Alabama is in a different time zone.

I am not very good at updating this thing.

I adopted a kitten a few weeks ago. Her name is Abbey and she's six weeks right now. Sweetie (cat from home) also lives with me now and it's very nice to finally be able to have pets in tallahassee!

I did not practice very much this summer. I'm paying for it right now with being pretty unprepared for ensemble auditions. Played some excerpts with some other flute players tonight and I am not as far off as I originally thought, so that is nice.

My little sister left today for college. She's going to St. Mary's Catholic school (for girls) in Indiana. (We're Jewish). I'm really excited for her though. I might have to go visit when its snowing. But anyways, my Mom is alone now. All three of her kids are in college. I'm really glad that she is happy and in a good relationship with Ed. I can't imagine how she would be if all her kids left and she was alone.

Ummm...My Dad got out of the hospital about a week ago. Finally. I think this time it was close to two months. Maybe even longer. I am not convinced that he is any better, but I guess these things take time.

Work is work. I love the kids. I really do. I mean, It is a lot of cleaning and exhausting hours but I've learned a lot this summer. It's put me in many situations that I was uncomfortable with and I feel like I've grown up a lot because of it. I've got some pretty good hours for the fall semester which is really great because I am not going to have to worry about money at all. If I stick with the budget I made, i'll have enough money saved up to get a new flute either at FFA or NFA next year. And get a new(used) car.

I start teaching flute lessons this coming week! I am so unbelievably excited. I need to review my pedagogy notebook and figure out what book I want to use. Ahhh.

5 days until classes!

 Oh man.  The past few days have been crazy.

I got into my first "car accident" on Friday morning on my way to babysit.  I was at a stop light and the car in front of me started backing up to let another car out of the shopping center at the corner.  But the car in front of me kept going and I beeped at them several times and they still kept backing up. Until they crashed into me.  And then they drove off!!!!!!!!  I got their license plate number, but my mom didn't want me to report it because they didn't make that big of a dent.  But I'm still pretty angry about the whole thing.  $%#@$#%@#@$%##!#&%&%@~!!!!

Okay so babysitting.  I babysat for almost 80 hours straight this weekend. Ah.  It wasn't too bad, although there were some lows.
The four year old fell asleep downstairs one night while we were watching a movie so I tried to carry him up to his room.  We go up a few stairs and he wakes up scared and has an accident ON ME.  ewwww.

Also this weekend, I got sick with something and I still had a sore throat today so I went to Thagard.  Bad idea.  Reminded me of having the plague last year.  Ah.  At least I don't have swine flu.

Today was my last day babysitting for Jaylen for a while.  I just can't keep waking up that early and babysitting all day for the other family.  Nicole went with me the past two days to meet him and to get comfortable with the routine.  I am going to miss that kid so much.  He's called me his mom before and I feel like he's part of my family.

Yeah.

And Ashley moved out yesterday and since then my roommates and I have been pretty sad. Part of the apartment is clearly missing.

Oh, but I have a funny story.  Not really a story.  Okay. Last night, Mark was attempting to make brownies.  So he put the water, oil, and egg directly into the glass baking dish.  Jess and I walked into the kitchen and saw this and it was one of the funniest things ever.  He didn't realize that it needed to go into a mixing bowl to be mixed before putting it into the baking dish.  So funny.

I started practicing again.  After a long break.  It feels good.  It's weird, but I feel very different practicing now that I know that I am a performance major.  Silly, I guess.

Today, I went to the beach house that the family I babysit for owns.  Guys, I got paid to drive a golf cart.

So many good things are happening right now.  I've lost the ability to contain this excitement.

I went visited Nicole in Gainesville this weekend and she gave me a wonderful tour of UF.  Man, that campus is very pretty.  Almost  as nice as FSU.  We also went to dinner at a place called Satchel's which was very cool.  You can eat dinner in an old VW bus.  Yeah.

I've been job-searching for a couple of weeks for an ideal summer babysitting gig. I think in the past two weeks I have had at least 6 or 7 interviews with different people and families and I didn't get any of them.  I was getting frustrated because I kept sending my resume out and hearing nothing.
But then I got a call from a guy who I sent my resume to on Friday and we had an interview last night. He called today and I start on Thursday!  The kids seem very well-behaved and adorable...and this job is paying 3x what I made last summer when I did the full-time thing.  So my savings account will hopefully be very happy at the end of the summer.  Also, I found this on my own, so no longer will my boss be making 30% of what I get paid!!

I am so excited about this job, but taking it means that I'm not going to be able to sit for Jaylen in the mornings anymore.  I am pretty sad about this because I really love that kid.  I've seen him almost every day since last August and it's going to be really hard for me to say bye.  But Nicole K is going to take over for the summer and hopefully I'll be able to start again in the Fall.  :(

Things are lookin' up.

True story:

::at walgreens::
Girl In Front Of Me In Line: ::puts a single beer bottle on the register::
Cashier: I need to see your I.D.
GIFOMIL: ::reluctantly pulls out I.D."
Cashier: ::examines I.D.::  "Um, you are only 17. You are underage."
GIFOMIL: "yeah.." ::walks outside::
Cashier: ::bursts into laughter::

This was obviously much more amusing in person.

Okay, I just babysit for 5 hours at Skate World.  Eww feet smell.

I should really stop reading yahoo news. There have been some interesting stories lately.  I saw one about bed bugs a few nights ago.  I never knew those things were real.  Eww.

I am pretty much out of ideas on how to wake Jaylen up in the morning.  I think part of the problem is that his dad lets him stay up really late playing video games.  5 year olds need more than six hours of sleep--or else they are cranky, wild children who punch their babysitter in the eye because she couldn't find the red spiderman shirt with the fire blaster on it.

I still don't have a major.  I'm hoping to find something out at my lesson tomorrow morning.  I'm running out of patience here!

I hear someone upstairs singing "We are the champions. ."  Man, I am gonna miss these guys when they graduate.  Oh and one of my roommates is going to Austin next year.

I feel like I just had a minor win over comcast.  I called today to fix our internet and I tried to get a lower monthly bill because right now our bill is ridiculous (almost 120/month).  They said that we already had the cheapest plan, so then I threatened that I would cancel my service and suddenly they told me that they could lower it to $80.  Win.

 I have these recurring dreams about alligators.  Like, SUPER intense alligator nightmares.  Of all the dreams that I remember in the morning, I think half of them have something to do with alligators.  Sometimes there are hundreds of them in my room and I can't touch the carpet because they'll get me.  I've had this dream where I crash my car into a canal and a gigantic gator eats my car with me in it.  One of my best friends when I was little told me that they could crawl through the pipes and come in the house through toilets.  To some extent, I think that might be true.  Okay, maybe not.  No, really that could be possible if it's a baby gator....?? The scariest is where I'm in a lake and it comes up from underneath and attacks me.  Falling in the lake at the rez might have perpetuated this series of nightmares.  It's pretty intense.  When I wake up I have to assure myself that an alligator is probably not going to come bite my arm off today.

 Whenever I am procrastinating or can't fall asleep I read the comments in the fsu_noles community.  It is quite entertaining.

Our first lab in Biology was working with beetles.  It's going to be a tough semester.

 Guess what?
I don't have to wake up at 4:30am again until Jan 4th! Awesome.

Some things:
My jury was on Monday. I failed.

Haha. Just kidding. It was great.  I got an A.
Our wind faculty is pretty funny when they are together.

I am done with Jazz tech FOREVER.
Next semester I will switching my major to BA and auditioning for performance if there is space.  I'm looking forward to the reduced course load for next semester.

The power adapter for my macbook broke on Thursday.  It burned itself into my computer and I ended up having to get a new one.  $90 and I've had my mac for 3 months.  Technology does not get along with me.

Also, Thursday my car was towed for the first time.  It was lovely.

I have a music history test in 24 hours that I should be studying for.

Guys, I have the best and worst roommates that anyone could ever ask for.

Mark cheats.

I ordered my macbook today.  It should be here thursday!  I also got an ipod touch and a snazzy printer for free.

I don't think I can handle one more person coming up to me complaining about how the flute assoc. is now selling stuff on tuesdays.  We signed up for the table.  There's no rule that says the same groups have control over the breezeway.

Today was the first day of the new babysitting job that I got for the school year.  The hours are a little crazy: 5:30am-7:00am Mon-Fri, but I think i'll be able manage it. maybe. Basically, I get there at 5:30am and then wake the kid up at 6:45 and drive him to daycare.  He's 4 years old and he's adorable!!  I'm a little worried about waking up so early and then going to class and rehearsal and recitals and stuff..but we'll see.

My sister is still here. She's moving out on Friday and I cannot wait!

Jazz tech take 2 starts in a week.  That I am NOT excited for.  But I am pretty excited for classes to start.

Being home has been nice so far.  I finished reading Eclipse the other day and it was soo good.  Breaking Dawn comes out tonight at midnight and Barnes and Noble is having a release party for it which should be fun.

I was at Alba's the other day and it started pouring really hard and we looked outside and there was a fish swimming in the street in front of her house.  There's a video of the fish somewhere.  You don't see that everyday.

It's August.

 Today the Savannah's told Jess that they were putting a 3rd person downstairs next year instead of the original lease agreement where it woule be Jess and I downstairs and Mark and Ash upstairs.  And Jess would have to share a bathroom with a random person.  I guess the lady told Jess she'd try and make it so we'd not end up with someone else but I guess there are no guarantees.

Man, there is some pretty hillarious fsu_noles drama right now.

I have 2 reusable shopping bags from publix and every time I go to the store I forget them.  I think the smart thing would be to keep them in the car..
